Britain is a much more multicultural place than it was when I was a small child. It was a pretty monoculture sort of place with very few foreign names.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><i>The Thursday Murder Club<\/i>\u00a0star described her father as the \u201cyoung scion of an illustrious Russian family\u201d in her memoir titled\u00a0<i>In the Frame: My Life in Words and Pictures<\/i>, published in 2011.<\/p>\n<p>Notably, Pyotor Vassili Mironov, Mirren\u2019s grandfather, was inducted into the country\u2019s military, where he served as a colonel and took part in the 1904 Russo-Japanese War.<\/p>\n<p>Pyotor and his family were forsaken when he was involved in negotiating deals in Britain during the Russian Revolution in 1917.<\/p>\n<p>It is pertinent to mention that Mirren\u2019s grandfather and his family were \u201chonoured guests of the British government, living in luxurious quarters within the Russian embassy,\u201d as per her memoir.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Helen Mirren reveals who she was before her father&#8217;s unexpected decision Helen Mirren recently walked down a memory lane to shed light on her father\u2019s decision to change the family name.
