As Taylor Swift prepares for her highly anticipated wedding to Travis Kelce this summer, the Library of Congress has honored her 2014 album 1989 with induction into the National Recording Registry, cementing its legacy as one of America\u2019s most influential pop records<\/p>\n

It is being recognized as an \u201caudio treasure worthy of preservation for all time.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Registry\u2019s 2026 class spans decades and genres, but Swift\u2019s inclusion marks a milestone.<\/p>\n

It is her first entry into the collection of recordings deemed culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant to America\u2019s sound heritage.<\/p>\n

The album was released in October 2014.<\/p>\n

1989 debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and went on to win Album of the Year at the Grammys.<\/p>\n

Fueled by hits like\u00a0Shake It Off<\/i>,\u00a0Blank Space<\/i>, and\u00a0Style<\/i>, the record not only redefined Swift\u2019s career but also helped shape the sound of mainstream pop in the mid 2010s.<\/p>\n

Its synth driven production and sharp lyrical storytelling became a blueprint for a new generation of artists.<\/p>\n

Swift joins fellow icons Beyonc\u00e9, whose 2008 anthem\u00a0Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)<\/i>\u00a0was also selected, alongside classics from Chaka Khan, Gladys Knight and the Pips, and Vince Gill.<\/p>\n

More than 3,000 recordings were nominated this year, with 25 ultimately chosen, bringing the Registry\u2019s total to 700.<\/p>\n
